The product itself is, straight away, very eye catching. The packaging is very creative, with the rubiks cube coming in a very nicely manufactured cube3 box. The cube is a shengshou aurora(?), which is a pretty common speed solving cube, so it's of the highest quality for what you are using it for. You also get a small card, directing you to a private video on murphys magic where you can stream or download the instructional video.

Prior to this, I had very little knowledge on rubiks cube magic, only an old gimmicked version of an instant solve. Seeing Steven Brundage perform his routine on Penn and Teller and AGT, I was convinced it was gimmicked but later found out on his At the Table lecture the methodology and how it was completely ungimmicked, I was amazed and instantly bought this!

The first video is Steven going through how to solve a cube. Like I said, I had no experience or knowledge of rubiks cubes so I was a total beginner. Stevens instructions are extremely clear and he goes through solving step by step. It only took me two days to commit all the algorithms to memory and could solve it (slowly! about 5 minutes) by myself by the end of the second day. I'm getting a bit faster now and the moves are slowly becoming subconscious so I don't have to think about twist this, twist that etc.

He then gives you sources for further learning, and speed solving.

The second part of the videos is his routine. He goes through pretty much everything you see in his act. I think the only thing that's missing is the instant solve where he drops it from one hand to the other and it solves. I can imagine how it works but unless you are proficient at the theory of solving rubiks cubes, you'd have to wait for the second installment of Cube3!

I have not got onto learning the actual routines yet as I'm still familiarizing myself with solving it till I can get it without thinking at all. The routines are very much the same in terms of how it's achieved, but use slightly different variations and types of presentation. They are extremely practical and you are solving the cubes so everything is as it should be at the end, as well as throughout (for the most part). Everything is how it looks though so if you enjoy what you see from his performances on AGT and Penn and Teller, and are willing to put in the time, you won't be disappointed!

Thank you Steven for releasing this to the public. It really is a goldmine and a great introduction for anyone interested in Rubiks Cube Magic! It's also a great product for people experienced in Rubiks Cubes, the first part might not be for you though.

Advantages: Extremely good value for money!
Great teaching.
Range of tricks with a range of difficulties.
Comes in a nice box and with a high quality speed solve cube.

Disadvantages: Not a bad disadvantage, but this isn't something you are going to be able to perform within 5 minutes. Solving the cube will take a few days to understand and sink in, and at least a week before you are confident. Even then you are not going to be able to speed solve it, so to get to a situation where you can confidently pull off the same kind of persona as Brundage, you are going to have to dedicate months, even years to learning speed solving algorithms.

That said, the solving isn't needed for the routines, only highly recommended if you do mess up. The routines themselves, there are not very many moves involved, which will not take you long, but you must be able to perform them smoothly and quickly, so you will need to practice a lot!
